The driver considers that his controlled performance on Sunday is a sign of his evolution.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I am a very different driver than I was a couple of years ago, I feel more complete and confident. He felt comfortable and with the certainty of having the opportunity to win.\n\nSince his arrival at Mercedes in 2022, Russell hasn&#8217;t had a car capable of fighting for championships.\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F1006%2Fr1556381_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg\" alt=\"George Russell earned a surprise victory in Singapore on Sunday.\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\nIn three seasons as Lewis Hamilton&#8217;s teammate, Russell was only two points behind the seven-time champion and currently leads his rookie teammate Kimi Antonelli by 149 points after 18 races.\n\nRussell believes he has matured as a driver in the last two years and would make the most of a car capable of achieving consistent victories throughout the season.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I think it comes with experience, just knowing how to maximize each situation. I was probably driving a bit more tense a couple of years ago and probably forcing things in circumstances where I shouldn&#8217;t have.<\/p><cite>George Russell<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nRussell commented that he now feels more relaxed and that, faced with the rain before the race, he remained calm, accepting the conditions as equal for everyone.
