Buffalo Sabres’ top-line center Josh Norris will be out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury, coach Lindy Ruff announced Saturday.<\/p>\n
Ruff indicated that Norris will be out for “a significant period” when providing the update before Buffalo’s game in Boston. The injury occurred two days after the center was injured in a 4-0 loss to the New York Rangers in the season opener.<\/p>\n
Ruff had previously mentioned that the injury is new, but similar to an oblique tear that prevented Norris from playing the last month of last season.<\/p>\n
Norris was injured with about five minutes left in the game. He fell forward and collapsed on the ice after losing a faceoff against Mika Zibanejad in front of the Sabres’ bench.<\/p>\n
This is the latest setback for 26-year-old Norris, who underwent three operations to correct a shoulder problem dating back to his college days at Michigan. It’s also a significant blow for the Sabres, who acquired Norris in a trade that sent center Dylan Cozens and defenseman Dennis Gilbert to Ottawa in March.<\/p>\n
Norris has surpassed 20 goals on three occasions, including 35 in the 2021-22 season. However, he has yet to complete a full season due to the injuries he has suffered throughout his five-year career.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
