Buffalo Sabres center Josh Norris will be out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury, coach Lindy Ruff announced on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Ruff indicated that Norris will be absent “a significant amount of time” when updating the situation before the Buffalo game in Boston. The injury occurred two days after the player was injured in the 4-0 loss to the New York Rangers in the season opener.<\/p>\n
The coach also mentioned that the injury is new, but similar to an oblique tear that prevented Norris from playing the last month of last season.<\/p>\n
Norris suffered the injury with about five minutes left in the game, after losing a face-off against Mika Zibanejad in front of the Sabres’ bench, falling to the ice.<\/p>\n
This setback adds to a series of challenges for Norris, 26, who has had to undergo three operations to correct a shoulder problem since his university days at Michigan.<\/p>\n
This absence represents a significant blow for the Sabres, who acquired Norris in a trade involving Dylan Cozens and Dennis Gilbert in March.<\/p>\n
