This victory secures her a place in the quarterfinals of the WTA 1000 tournament.\n\nSabalenka’s impressive streak includes titles won in Wuhan in 2018, 2019, and 2024, demonstrating her dominance in this prestigious event.\n\nIga Swiatek, ranked second, also advanced to the next round after a 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory over Belinda Bencic. Swiatek improves her record against Bencic to 5-1, including a straight-sets win in the Wimbledon semifinals in July.\n\nIn the quarterfinals, Sabalenka will face Elena Rybakina, the eighth seed, who secured her place by defeating Linda Noskova with a score of 6-3, 6-4. Rybakina seeks to secure her place in the WTA Finals to be held in Saudi Arabia.\n\nJasmine Paolini will be Swiatek’s rival in the quarterfinals, after Clara Tauson retired from the match when the score was 3-6, 6-1, 3-1 in favor of Paolini.\n\nPreviously, Jessica Pegula managed to come back from an initial break in the third set to defeat Ekaterina Alexandrova with a score of 7-5, 3-6, 6-3, securing her place in the quarterfinals. Pegula, sixth seed, who lost in the semifinals of the China Open last week, tied the decisive set at 2-2 and then won four of the last five games to secure the victory.\n\nThis victory over Alexandrova, who is in ninth place, came a day after Pegula needed seven match points to overcome Hailey Baptiste in the second round.\n\nThis was Pegula’s sixth consecutive match that went to three sets, being the fifth time she emerged victorious.\n\n

I don’t remember the last time I played two sets.
