Rahm’s outstanding round, with a 66 under par, left him five strokes behind the leader, Marco Penge of England, who completed a round of 67. It is important to note that Rahm had started the tournament with a round of 72.<\/p>\n
On the other hand, Lowry had a less fortunate performance, with a 75 in the first round, followed by a 68 on Friday. This was not enough to avoid elimination, being out by one stroke.<\/p>\n
Penge, for his part, had an impeccable round with four birdies, which allowed him to lead by one stroke to a group of golfers made up of Jeff Winther from Denmark, Joel Girbach from Switzerland and Aaron Cockerill from Canada.<\/p>\n
Rahm is currently in 18th place and is looking to surpass Seve Ballesteros as the most successful golfer in the tournament since the creation of the European circuit in 1972.<\/p>\n
This is Rahm’s seventh participation in Madrid, where he has already achieved victories in 2018, 2019 and 2022. In the previous edition, he was runner-up after losing in a playoff against Spaniard \u00c1ngel Hidalgo.<\/p>\n
