Buffalo Sabres center Josh Norris will be out indefinitely due to an upper-body injury, according to coach Lindy Ruff announced on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Ruff stated that Norris will be out for “a significant period” when updating the information before the Sabres’ game in Boston. The injury occurred two days after the center suffered the injury in the 4-0 defeat against the New York Rangers in the season opener.<\/p>\n
Ruff also indicated that the injury is new, but similar to an oblique tear that kept Norris out for the last month of last season.<\/p>\n
Norris was injured with about five minutes left in the game, falling forward and collapsing on the ice after losing a face-off against Mika Zibanejad in front of the Sabres’ bench.<\/p>\n
This is the latest setback for 26-year-old Norris, who underwent three operations to correct a shoulder problem dating back to his college days at Michigan. Furthermore, it represents a harsh blow for the Sabres, who acquired Norris in a trade that sent center Dylan Cozens and defenseman Dennis Gilbert to Ottawa in March.<\/p>\n
