Mekies remains humble despite Red Bull resurgence<\/h2>\n\nRed Bull boss Laurent Mekies continues to downplay his role in the team’s remarkable improvement, something Max Verstappen considers to be “too modest.”\n\nSince Mekies took office in July, Red Bull’s performance has undergone a drastic change.\n\nVerstappen achieved a podium finish at the Dutch Grand Prix after the summer break, followed by consecutive victories in Monza and Baku, before securing second place at Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix.\n\n\n

I still have no credit,” Mekies declared to reporters on Sunday night when asked if he would reconsider the amount of credit he can now be attributed. “And I say it with the same seriousness that I told you after Monza.<\/p>\nLaurent Mekies<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe Red Bull executive attributes the improved performance to teamwork and analysis of the car’s limitations, with an emphasis on Verstappen’s contributions.\n\nThe resurgence has led McLaren to point to Verstappen as a real threat to Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris in the fight for the drivers’ title, as the current champion is 63 points behind the lead with six races remaining.\n\nVerstappen has praised Mekies for his work since he left his former position as head of Red Bull’s junior team, Racing Bulls.\n\nMekies, with an engineering background, has brought a more sensible approach to the car’s setup, according to Verstappen.\n\nVerstappen commented that Mekies is probably too modest, but highlighted the team’s collective effort to analyze the details and understand their weaknesses.\n\nThe Dutch driver added that the team is learning to identify areas for improvement and that Mekies’ approach is proving effective.\n\n\n
