New York Islanders forward Jonathan Drouin has been suspended for one game due to a cross-checking action against Pittsburgh’s Connor Dewar, as announced by the NHL’s Department of Player Safety.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred during the end of the Thursday night game.<\/p>\n
Drouin, 30 years old, received a major penalty of five minutes and was ejected from the game for the cross-check in a post-whistle scrum, leaving Dewar on the ice with 15 seconds left.<\/p>\n
This is Drouin’s first suspension in his career in the league. He will miss the Islanders’ home opener on Saturday night against Washington.<\/p>\n
