This achievement came in the 86-kilogram category during the event held in Norway.\n\nThe athlete from San Pedro de Macor\u00eds demonstrated her superiority by lifting 122 kilograms in her third attempt in the snatch event, securing the gold medal. In addition, her historic performance earned her silver in the total, with 271 kg, and bronze in the clean and jerk, with 149 kg, becoming the first Dominican weightlifter to obtain three medals in the same World Championship.\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>This is a dream moment. It is the result of many years of work, sacrifice, and faith. Taking the Dominican flag to the highest point of the podium is an indescribable pride<\/p><cite>Yudelina Mej\u00eda<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\nThe competition was intense. Norwegian Eila Amena Koanda, supported by the local audience, took the gold in the snatch, with 153 kg, and in the total, with 272 kg, with Mej\u00eda only one kilogram away from matching her mark.\n\nYudelina Mej\u00eda becomes World Weightlifting vice-champion in the 86-kilogram division, after registering 122 kg in Snatch (gold), 149 kilos in Clean and Jerk (bronze), for a total of 271 kg, in the Championship held in Forde, Norway.\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\nhttps:\/\/twitter.com\/RichardBazil\/status\/1711316368897041838\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\nEgyptian Abdelrazek Elsayed Rahma completed the podium in the snatch with 115 kg, while Australian Eileen Floanna Cikamatana won bronze in the clean and jerk and total, with marks of 140 and 252 kg, respectively.\n\nWith this outstanding performance, Mej\u00eda surpasses the previous best result of a Dominican weightlifter in world championships, a mark that belonged to Crismery Santana, who had achieved a silver and a bronze in the elite.\n\nMej\u00eda joins the list of Dominican medalists in weightlifting, along with Yuderqui Contreras, Wanda Rijo and Rosailiz Santana, who have shone in youth and under-17 categories.\n\nThe Dominican team in Norway also includes athletes Dahiana Ortiz and Fransheska Mat\u00edas, along with coaches H\u00e9ctor Dom\u00ednguez and Oswaldo Pinilla, from Colombia.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The outstanding Dominican weightlifter, Yudelina Mej\u00eda, has made history for the Dominican Republic by securing the first gold medal in a Senior World Weightlifting Championship.
