The driver considers his measured performance on Sunday to be proof of his progress.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I am a very different driver than I was a couple of years ago, and I feel more complete, with more confidence. I know exactly what I need to do in certain circumstances.<\/p><cite>George Russell<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nRussell reported that, although he felt nervous before the race, he did not experience additional pressure. He felt it was just another race, and he knew he had the opportunity to win, which gave him peace of mind.\n\nThe driver added that he feels ready to fight for the championship and take the next step in his career.\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F1006%2Fr1556381_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg\" alt=\"George Russell earned a surprise victory in Singapore on Sunday.\" title=\"\"><figcaption>George Russell logr\u00f3 una sorpresiva victoria en Singapur el domingo.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\nSince joining Mercedes in 2022, Russell hasn&#8217;t had a car capable of fighting for championships.\n\nIn three seasons as Lewis Hamilton&#8217;s teammate, Russell was only two points behind the seven-time champion. Currently, he leads his rookie teammate Kimi Antonelli by 149 points after 18 races.\n\nRussell believes he has matured as a driver in the last two years and would make the most of a car capable of achieving consistent victories throughout the season.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>I think it comes with experience, just knowing how to maximize each situation.
