San Jose Sharks Without a Captain for Next Season<\/h2>\n\nSAN JOSE, Calif. \u2013 The San Jose Sharks will face the upcoming NHL season without a designated captain, opting for a rotation of five players with the role of assistants.\n\nCoach Ryan Warsofsky announced on Wednesday that forward Tyler Toffoli will wear the “A” in all games. Macklin Celebrini and Barclay Goodrow will also assume the role in home games, while Mario Ferraro and Alexander Wennberg will do so in away games.\n\n\n

Each of the players who will make up our leadership group for the 2025-26 season brings important skills and character to the locker room. These individuals embody what it means to be a Shark and the identity we want to have as a team. As a coaching staff, we are excited to have each of these players in a leadership role and to have them serve as an example for the rest of the group.<\/p>Ryan Warsofsky, Coach<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThis will be the first time since the 2014-15 season that the Sharks will not have a designated captain. Joe Pavelski was named captain the following season, and Logan Couture succeeded him starting in the 2019-20 season.\n\nCouture was captain until last season, although he didn’t play.
