The situation puts Morant in a “week-to-week” status for his recovery.<\/p>\n
This new absence adds to the list of important Grizzlies players who are recovering from injuries, which could affect their participation in the start of the regular season.<\/p>\n
The pivot Zach Edey underwent surgery in June to treat a left ankle injury. His return to the courts is expected to be between mid and late November.<\/p>\n
For his part, power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. is recovering from surgery to repair a toe injury, suffered in July. The team estimated a recovery time of four to six weeks before the start of training camp, which raises uncertainty about his availability for the Grizzlies’ opening game on October 22 against the New Orleans Pelicans.<\/p>\n
Morant, who has been selected to the All-Star team twice, has participated in a total of 59 games in the last two seasons. He suffered a labrum tear that ended his season in January 2024, after playing only nine games after serving a 25-game suspension at the beginning of the season.
