Last season, the Flames recorded a 41-27-14 record, but failed to qualify for the playoffs for the third consecutive year, losing the tiebreaker to the St. Louis Blues.\n\nThe new contractual agreement will extend until the 2027-28 season.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cHe has done an excellent job of creating a strong culture in our locker room and helping our team move in the right direction. His communication, work ethic, and commitment to the development of our players have been outstanding. We trust his vision and are confident that he is the right coach to lead us,\u201d said General Manager Craig Conroy in a statement.<\/p><cite>Craig Conroy<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nHuska, 50, has been with the Flames organization since 2014-15, joining the NHL team as an assistant in 2018.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cI am grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this team and building on the foundation we have started. I believe in this group, in their character, talent, and potential. I am excited about the direction we are taking,\u201d Huska said in a statement.<\/p><cite>Ryan Huska<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nPreviously selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the draft, Huska began his coaching career in 2002 as an assistant with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League, and later became the team&#8217;s coach in 2007.
