During last season, the team recorded a 41-27-14 record, missing the playoffs for the third consecutive year, after losing a tiebreaker against the St. Louis Blues.\n\nThe new contractual agreement extends until the 2027-28 season.\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cHe has done an excellent job of creating a strong culture in our locker room and helping our team move in the right direction. His communication, work ethic, and commitment to the development of our players have been outstanding. We believe in his vision and are confident that he is the right coach to lead us into the future,\u201d said General Manager Craig Conroy.<\/p><cite>Craig Conroy<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\nHuska, 50, has been associated with the Flames organization since the 2014-15 season, and joined the NHL team as an assistant in 2018.\n\n\u201cI am grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this team and build on the foundation we have started. I believe in this group, in its character, talent and potential. I am excited about the direction we are taking,\u201d Huska expressed.\n\nBefore joining the Flames, Huska was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks. He began his coaching career in 2002, as an assistant with the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League, and then became the club&#8217;s coach in 2007.
