The distinction is awarded through voting by players, coaches, clubhouse staff, and team fans.\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThis is an honor for me. It means a lot that it comes from my teammates, coaches, and the fans. I am truly grateful,\u201d Adames expressed after receiving the recognition.<\/p><cite>Willy Adames<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\nAdames, who arrived at the Giants last season with a US$182 million seven-year contract, the largest in franchise history and also the largest awarded to a shortstop in Major League Baseball, has established himself as an undisputed leader.\n\nIn his first season with San Francisco, the Santiago native has led the team in multiple offensive categories, including games played (158), runs scored (93), home runs (29), RBIs (86), walks (80), and stolen bases (12).
