Packers vs. Cowboys in sight

Micah Parsons on facing Dak Prescott: A bittersweet duel

The anticipated meeting between Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott is approaching, generating a mix of emotions for the outstanding Green Bay Packers player.

Parsons, a two-time All-Pro, downplayed the impact of his return to Dallas and shared his feelings about the possibility of facing his friend and former teammate in a conversation with The Associated Press on Tuesday.

The game between Parsons and the Packers (2-1) against Prescott and the Cowboys (1-2) will be played on Sunday night, attracting the attention of the whole country.

“It’s going to be painful,” Parsons said about the opportunity to face Prescott. “That’s my guy. He was always a good mentor to me. But you know how it is. He always told me that if I ever faced him, it would be a great matchup, so I’m excited to see what he brings on Sunday.”
Micah Parsons

Parsons plans to approach the match as just another one, although it will be his first time at AT&T Stadium as a visitor.

“I accepted my fate weeks ago when the trade happened,” Parsons said. “So, for me, it’s about playing another game and doing what I do best, which is being a disruptive football player. I think the media and the fans are trying to blow it up to be something really big. But I see it as just another game at AT&T.”

A game that everyone marked on their calendar after Cowboys owner Jerry Jones traded Parsons to the Packers a week before the start of the NFL season, ending a long contractual dispute.

The Packers boosted their Super Bowl hopes with Parsons and made the 26-year-old the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history by signing him to a four-year, $188 million contract, which includes $136 million guaranteed.

The Cowboys (1-2) have struggled without Parsons, especially on defense. They have allowed the third-most yards (397.7 per game), the most passing yards (288), and the sixth-most points (30.7).

Despite missing all of training camp and arriving in Green Bay a week before the first game, Parsons had an immediate impact on the defense in the 27-13 victory over the Detroit Lions, two-time NFC North defending champions, in Week 1. The Packers defeated the Washington Commanders 27-18 four days later. But the offense couldn’t get going in the 13-10 loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 3.

“Besides the fanatics, only the teammates, the support staff, made this transition so great and I feel extremely honored and blessed to be with such a great group of guys who want to win and who just want to play football and I think we’ve been playing very good football so far, so that helps and I just hope we continue like this,” Parsons said.

Micah Parsons on facing Dak Prescott: A bittersweet duel The anticipated meeting between Micah Parsons and Dak Prescott is approaching, generating a mix of emotions for the outstanding Green Bay Packers player.
