Keegan Bradley Defends Bryson DeChambeau Against Ryder Cup Criticism<\/h2>\n\nAmidst a whirlwind of criticism, the U.S. team captain, Keegan Bradley, has come to the defense of Bryson DeChambeau, the LIV Golf star, ahead of this week’s Ryder Cup.\n\nBradley believes that DeChambeau, the only American player not belonging to the PGA Tour, will be a key factor for the team, not only for his game, but also for the energy he will bring to the local fans at Bethpage Black.\n\n\n

He’s a very energetic player. In the Ryder Cup, you don’t want players trying to be something they’re not. We have a lot of calm and collected players, so we need Bryson’s energy.<\/p>Keegan Bradley<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nBradley’s comments come after Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee criticized DeChambeau, accusing him of being a “nightmare for the captain” and of seeking “self-interest” by promoting his YouTube channel instead of talking about the Ryder Cup.\n\nEuropean star Rory McIlroy also launched criticism at DeChambeau, stating that the only way the latter gets attention is by mentioning others.\n\nDeChambeau responded to the criticism saying that his goal is to inspire young people on YouTube and that he hopes to have a good interaction with McIlroy.\n\nThis will be DeChambeau’s third Ryder Cup appearance, and his first as a LIV Golf member.\n\nHis American teammates have praised his commitment to the team, highlighting his effort to participate, despite not playing on the PGA Tour.\n\n\n

Spaun added that DeChambeau is excellent with the fans and that will be a great attribute for the team this week.\n\nBradley highlighted the extra effort DeChambeau has made to integrate into the team.\n\nXander Schauffele, who played with DeChambeau in 2021, called him a “tremendous competitor” and a “great teammate.” The world number 1 also noted that the energy DeChambeau can generate will play a key role in the attempt to beat the Europeans.\n\n\n
