According to his sports psychologist, Bob Rotella, the main focus was to maintain absolute concentration, even if that meant limiting interaction with his playing partners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>McIlroy, 35, achieved his coveted Masters title after an exciting playoff against Justin Rose, becoming the first European to complete the Grand Slam in golf history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bryson DeChambeau revealed that McIlroy maintained almost total silence during the final round. Rotella explained that this tactic was not specifically directed at DeChambeau, but was part of the overall plan for the tournament.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>\u201cThat silence had nothing to do with Bryson. It was the game plan for the whole week, and we wanted to get lost in it. We didn\u2019t want to pay attention to what others were scoring, playing, or how they were hitting the ball.
