Manny Mota, 87, has dedicated 56 years to the Dodgers, serving as a player, coach, commentator, and, more recently, as part of the group of veterans that serves as a link between the club and the community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mota played with the Dodgers for the last 13 years of a two-decade career that began in 1962 with the San Francisco Giants. He then spent the next 35 years as a coach, a record for the Los Angeles franchise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mota, during his career, batted .304 and was selected for the 1973 All-Star Game. His 150 pinch hits were a Major League record for two decades until Lenny Harris surpassed it in 1999. In his 13 seasons with the Dodgers, Mota batted .315 in 1,923 at-bats, primarily as a pinch hitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
