Minnesota Lynx guard DiJonai Carrington will be unable to participate in the remainder of the postseason due to a foot injury. The team announced on Saturday that tests revealed a “significant midfoot sprain.”<\/p>\n
An MRI confirmed the sprain after Carrington was initially ruled out for Game 1 of the WNBA semifinal series against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Carrington appeared to injure her foot at the end of Game 2 of the first-round series against the Golden State Valkyries. She was seen wearing a boot and walking with crutches on Friday at the press conference of her teammate Alanna Smith, who received the Defensive Player of the Year award.<\/p>\n
Without Carrington, Minnesota’s backcourt loses an important player on both ends of the court. In both games of the first-round series against the Valkyries, she provided the team with an offensive boost, scoring six points in Game 1 and 11 in Game 2. Carrington, selected for the first team defense in 2024, also defended Golden State’s best guard on the court.<\/p>\n
Carrington averaged 8.6 points in her 11 regular season games with the Lynx, and had a 48.5% shooting percentage overall and a career-high 45.5% from the 3-point line in those games.
