Although she did not perform well in her UFC strawweight championship fight in February, her recent victory puts her in an advantageous position.

In her fight for the title, Suárez, who remained undefeated, failed to impose her fight against Zhang Weili. Now, the situation could be different, as the strawweight division seeks a new contender.

With the vacant 115-pound title, and awaiting the result of the fight between Virna Jandiroba and Mackenzie Dern on October 25, the winner will need a challenger. Tatiana Suárez could be that contender.

Suárez managed to recover her fight at the UFC Fight Night event and defeated Amanda Lemos, who was one spot above her in the strawweight rankings. This victory allows Suárez (11-1) to move up to number 4.

The winner of Saturday’s main event, Diego Lopes, remains at number 3 among featherweights because the fighter ranked just above him, Movsar Evloev, previously defeated him.

In addition, three other changes were made to the rankings due to the requirement that fighters compete in the last year or have a scheduled fight. Due to inactivity, Dan Hooker (lightweight), Arnold Allen (featherweight), and Norma Dumont (women’s bantamweight) were removed from the rankings.

Here are the pound-for-pound MMA rankings and a list of the current UFC champions in all weight classes. The results are current; the rankings are from September 16th. To be eligible for the ranking, a fighter must have competed in the last 12 months or have a scheduled fight. Fighters who have been retired due to inactivity can only be reinstated after competing.

Ranking by weight

Heavyweight | Light Heavyweight | Middleweight | Welterweight
Lightweight | Featherweight | Bantamweight
Flyweight | Women’s Bantamweight | Women’s Flyweight | Strawweight

Tom Aspinall was already number 1 in heavyweight, but now the UFC belt he wears no longer has the “interim” label.

Richard Sellers/PA via AP

HEAVYWEIGHT (up to 265 pounds)

1.
