This performance propelled him into contention for the title, while Joakim Lagergren of Sweden leads the tournament after an outstanding performance of 62 strokes on Friday&#8217;s round.\n\nMcIlroy, with six birdies to his name at The K Club, placed third. In the previous edition of the Irish Challenge, held on the adjacent Palmer South Course, he set a course record with a round of 63 strokes.
