The New York Giants have designed a special playbook for Jaxson Dart, the young quarterback, in case he participates in the first game of the season against the Washington Commanders. A source confirmed the information to Alofoke Deportes.<\/p>\n
Dart, who was selected in this year’s draft, will be in the backup position behind Russell Wilson. Jameis Winston, a veteran, will be the third emergency quarterback, according to the source.<\/p>\n
Giants coach Brian Daboll hadn’t revealed last week whether Dart or Winston would be Wilson’s backups, telling reporters the team would announce the decision on Sunday.<\/p>\n
However, Dart was ahead of Winston in the first unofficial regular season depth chart the Giants released on Monday.<\/p>\n
The Giants selected 22-year-old Dart with the number 25 pick in this year’s draft, after making a trade to secure the former Ole Miss star.<\/p>\n
Dart had the majority of the repetitions with the second team during the summer and showed a good performance in the preseason games. He completed 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns, with no interceptions, in addition to running for a touchdown.<\/p>\n
Daboll announced that Wilson, 36, and a 10-time Pro Bowl selection, would be the Giants’ starter at the start of training camp in July. Wilson quickly established himself as a leader in New York’s quarterback group after signing a one-year contract with the Giants in March.<\/p>\n
