Under braking it&#8217;s easy to make mistakes. Q3 was good, I&#8217;m happy with the laps and being on pole here is fantastic.<\/p><cite>Max Verstappen<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nNorris, after a complicated weekend, managed to advance to Q2 in the final moments. Although he didn&#8217;t get the pole, he surpassed his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri, who will start from the second row alongside Charles Leclerc of Ferrari.\n\nLeclerc, who stayed less than 0.1 seconds behind Verstappen after the first laps in Q3, couldn&#8217;t improve his time in the final attempt, finishing 0.215 seconds behind the leader.\n\nThis promises an exciting race at Monza&#8217;s famous first chicane, with the title contenders interspersed between Verstappen and Leclerc, who will seek to repeat Ferrari&#8217;s victory from last year.\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a2.espncdn.com\/combiner\/i?img=%2Fphoto%2F2025%2F0906%2Fr1541804_1296x729_16%2D9.jpg\" alt=\"Max Verstappen tom\u00f3 la pole por segunda vez en Monza.\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\nNorris will seek to overtake Verstappen quickly in Sunday&#8217;s race.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Max has been fast all weekend and it&#8217;s never a surprise with Max. It was a pretty good session for me, with ups and downs and too many mistakes here and there. Putting everything together on the last lap made me very happy, so I&#8217;m happy with second place.<\/p><cite>Lando Norris<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nPiastri downplayed the suggestion that he felt safe in qualifying. &#8220;Turn 1 was a bit so-so, but the rest of the lap was pretty good. I feel like I had a pretty good session,&#8221; he commented.\n\nLeclerc&#8217;s teammate, Lewis Hamilton, qualified fifth, but will have a grid penalty.
