Sweden&#8217;s Joakim Lagergren leads the tournament after an outstanding round of 62 on Friday.\n\nMcIlroy climbed to third position, thanks to six birdies at The K Club, two of them achieved in the last two holes, delighting the numerous fans who were following him on his return home.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Incredible, all day. Even just walking onto the course for warm-up today, the support is absolutely incredible. I&#8217;m looking forward to playing in that atmosphere over the next few days.<\/p><cite>Rory McIlroy<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe world number 2 will have to close the gap with Lagergren, who tops the leaderboard with 12 under par after 36 holes, and Frenchman Adrien Saddier, who with a round of 66, added to his initial 67, is one stroke behind the leader.\n\nLagergren, 33 years old, has a distinguished history at The K Club.
