Ferrari Pays Tribute to Niki Lauda at Monza<\/h2>\n\nFerrari will commemorate the 50th anniversary of Niki Lauda’s first world title with a special retro livery at the Italian Grand Prix this weekend.\n\nLauda, at the wheel of a Ferrari 312 T, secured the championship at Monza in 1975, finishing in third place, while his teammate, Clay Regazzoni, won the race.\n\nThis success was the first of Lauda’s three titles, including those of 1977 and 1984, and ended an 11-year title drought for Ferrari.\n\n\n

To pay tribute to Lauda’s first championship, Ferrari will dress its cars with a special decoration that imitates the look of the 1975 car. The drivers and mechanics will also wear retro overalls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Meanwhile, the original 312 T driven by Lauda will be exhibited at the Ferrari museum in Maranello and Jean Alesi will complete demonstration laps at Monza with the 1995 412 T2, the last Ferrari F1 car with a V12 engine.<\/p>\n\n\nFerrari arrives at Monza this weekend after a double retirement at the Dutch Grand Prix, where Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc retired following separate incidents.\n\nTo make matters worse, Hamilton has a five-place grid penalty for Monza for ignoring double yellow flags on his reconnaissance laps before last Sunday’s race at Zandvoort.","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
