In the absence of an agreement, he requested a trade, but the team denied it.

The Raiders player remains open to negotiating a new contract during the season, as long as the conditions are favorable for him.

They are evaluating me to see if they want me here. I am evaluating them to see if I want to be with them. We are all doing the same thing, and we’ll see how it goes.
Jakobi Meyers

Meyers’ contract has a base salary of $10.5 million and a cap hit of $14.98 million in 2025. He has no remaining guaranteed money on his three-year, $33 million contract, which he signed in 2023 after four seasons with the Patriots.

Despite the contractual situation, Meyers, 28, did not consider a strike, prioritizing his teammates.

If it weren’t for them, I probably would have done the same as everyone else. But you have to find a way to separate yourself from the whole business.
Jakobi Meyers

The general manager, John Spytek, praised Meyers as a “consummate professional”, highlighting his commitment to the team despite the contract dispute.

Jakobi and I have had many excellent conversations since I arrived here about many different things. I’m excited that he’s here, that he’s a Raider and that he’s on the field working hard today, and I haven’t seen him do anything else since I’ve been here. He’s a professional. I think he really values being a Raider.
John Spytek

In this offseason, several wide receivers signed long-term deals.

The Raiders have also shown their willingness to secure key veterans long-term. Defensive end Maxx Crosby, quarterback Geno Smith, punter AJ Cole, and left tackle Kolton Miller have received deals under Spytek’s direction.

Meyers believes he has earned a new contract. Last season, he achieved 87 receptions for a personal record of 1,027 yards and four touchdowns. He had a drop rate of 1.6% on 129 targets.

Meyers has recorded at least 800 yards in four consecutive seasons.

I tried hard enough to deserve to be here.
