If they don&#8217;t, I&#8217;ll be fine either way.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<cite>Jakobi Meyers<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nMeyers hoped to reach an agreement before the season opener against the New England Patriots. However, because both sides could not agree on the terms of a new contract, Meyers requested a trade, but the team denied it.\n\nThe player remains open to negotiating an agreement during the season, but it must be favorable for him.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;re watching me to see if they want me here. I&#8217;m watching them to see if I want to be with them,&#8221; Meyers said. &#8220;We&#8217;re all doing the same thing and we&#8217;ll see how it all plays out.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<cite>Jakobi Meyers<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nMeyers&#8217; contract has a base salary of $10.5 million and a cap hit of $14.98 million in 2025. He has no remaining guaranteed money on his three-year, $33 million contract, which he signed in 2023 after four seasons with the New England Patriots.\n\nThe 28-year-old player did not consider a strike because he wanted to be there for his teammates.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n\n<p>&#8220;If it weren&#8217;t for them, I probably would have done the same thing as everyone else,&#8221; Meyers said. &#8220;But you have to find a way to separate yourself from all the business.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<cite>Jakobi Meyers<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nLast week, general manager John Spytek called Meyers an &#8220;accomplished professional&#8221; as the veteran receiver continued practicing despite the contract dispute.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n\n<p>&#8220;Jakobi and I have had a lot of great conversations since I got here about a lot of different things,&#8221; Spytek said. &#8220;I&#8217;m excited that he&#8217;s here, that he&#8217;s a Raider, and that he&#8217;s on the field working hard today, and I haven&#8217;t seen him do anything other than that since I&#8217;ve been here. He&#8217;s a professional. I think he really values being a Raider.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n<cite>John Spytek<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nIn this offseason, several wide receivers in the league signed long-term deals. The Raiders have also shown their willingness to secure key veterans for the future.\n\nMeyers believes he has put himself in a position to get a new contract. Last season, he caught 87 passes for a career-high 1,027 yards and four touchdowns.
