The Washington Nationals have reached a one-year contract agreement with catcher Jorge Alfaro, as announced this Tuesday.<\/p>\n
This strategic move comes after the Nationals’ decision to send catcher C.J. Stubbs to Triple-A Rochester. Additionally, Drew Millas, also a catcher, has been moved to the 60-day injured list due to a fractured finger.<\/p>\n
Alfaro, 32, had a prominent role in 82 games with the Triple-A Nashville team, the main affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers, during the current season. His performance included a batting average of .244, with 15 home runs and 49 RBIs. In addition, he demonstrated a remarkable defensive ability by eliminating 24 runners attempting to steal bases, which placed him in fourth place in this aspect within Triple-A.<\/p>\n
Alfaro’s availability arose after he chose to opt out of his minor league contract last Monday.<\/p>\n
