Micah Parsons Could Play with the Packers Despite Injury<\/h2>\n\nGreen Bay Packers defensive end Micah Parsons is dealing with a sprain in the L4\/L5 facet joint in his back. He could receive an injection before Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions to help him play, according to sources close to the team.\n\nBefore being traded last week, the Dallas Cowboys prescribed him a five-day course of prednisone, an anti-inflammatory corticosteroid, to help him recover from back strain. He was also following a physical therapy program.\n\nParsons participated in his first practice with the Packers on Monday, although his participation was limited, according to several players.\n\n\n

If he plays, it would be eight days after being traded to Green Bay in exchange for two first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark.\n\nSubsequently, Green Bay signed him to a four-year, $188 million contract extension, which includes $120 million fully guaranteed at the time of signing and $136 million in total guarantees, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback player in NFL history.\n\nThe arrival of Parsons has generated great enthusiasm in the locker room. He had a couple of repetitions, but he said he will be one hundred percent on Wednesday and Thursday. So he will have to come see me.<\/p>Rasheed Walker<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nFew were happier with Parsons’ arrival than defensive end Rashan Gary, who has 39 sacks in his six seasons with the Packers, but has never recorded a double-digit sack season. Parsons’ arrival could mean Gary will face fewer double teams.\n\n\n

I guess we’ll see it on the 7th.<\/p>Rashan Gary<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nWhen asked if the incorporation of Parsons makes the Packers’ defense the best in the NFL, Gary said:\n\n\n

It’s scary. It’s definitely scary with the pieces we have. The guys we have, especially with the mindset that we all have. Especially talking to him today, we are similar people in terms of mindset. Just reality, you know, in those running plays, the ball will probably come out faster than it would before or than it usually does. Because I feel like the quarterback, there will be a timer in his mind, he will already be a little restless. We already have Gary, we already have the best interior rushers and we already have great linebackers who can put pressure on the quarterback. And you put a guy like Micah Parsons on the other side, and the guys lose the repetition before the repetition even starts, honestly.
