Medvedev and Cervara: End of an Era in Tennis<\/h2>\n\nDaniil Medvedev and his long-time coach, Gilles Cervara, have decided to end their professional relationship after a season marked by ups and downs, including moments of tension at the US Open.\n\nThe duo had worked full-time since 2017, when Medvedev, as a teenager, moved from Russia to the south of France. Cervara was key in Medvedev’s rise, taking him to the top of the world ranking and to win the US Open in 2021.\n\nHowever, the current season has presented challenges for Medvedev. The separation comes after a US Open where the tennis player had an altercation with the referee Greg Allensworth and confronted the public, culminating in the breaking of his racket after losing in the first round against Benjamin Bonzi.\n\nThis incident was a reflection of Medvedev’s frustration on the court, costing him almost 40% of his prize money, with a fine of $42,500.\n\n\n
