Sale is scheduled to be the opener for Saturday night’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies.<\/p>\n
The National League Cy Young Award winner had been out of action since June, due to a fracture in his left rib cage suffered while diving to field a ground ball. In his most recent rehab outing in Triple-A last week, he pitched 4\u00be innings.<\/p>\n
Sale’s return ends a period since the end of July in which all of the Braves’ Opening Day starters were on the injured list. Atlanta has had a 61-74 record and is on track to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2017.<\/p>\n
