Verstappen Celebrates P\u00e9rez’s Return to F1 with Cadillac<\/h2>\n\nThe Formula 1 world is preparing for the return of Sergio “Checo” P\u00e9rez in 2026, this time with Cadillac. His former Red Bull teammate, Max Verstappen, has expressed his support and enthusiasm for the Mexican driver’s return to competition.\n\nThe news of P\u00e9rez’s incorporation into Cadillac for the 2026 season was announced this week, where he will share a team with Valtteri Bottas. This announcement marks the entry of the American team as the eleventh team in F1.\n\nAfter a challenging season with Red Bull, where his performance was not as expected, P\u00e9rez was released from his contract at the end of 2024. However, the driver has stated that he has nothing to prove upon his return to the track.\n\nVerstappen, in a press conference prior to the Dutch Grand Prix, shared his joy at P\u00e9rez’s return to the grid.\n\n\n

“When I saw the news, I sent him a message. Of course, I am very happy for him, for having gotten a seat. In addition, he recalled P\u00e9rez’s achievements throughout his 14 years in F1, including six victories, 39 podiums and three poles<\/em>.\n\nWhen asked if P\u00e9rez could regain his best form, Verstappen responded positively, highlighting the opportunity for a fresh start.\n\n\n

“I don’t think it’s about a mid-season; that doesn’t define what you can do. I think he’s also quite calm in that sense. For Checo, it’s a new beginning. He’s excited, new cars, completely new cars as well. He has shown many great things, even before arriving at Red Bull and during his time at Red Bull. So just go in, enjoy it again and have a good time.”<\/p>Max Verstappen<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nVerstappen also highlighted P\u00e9rez’s experience in different teams and his knowledge of how F1 works internally.
