White Sox’s starting pitcher, Miguel Vargas, was forced to leave Thursday’s game against the New York Yankees due to a contusion on his left wrist.<\/p>\n
The injury occurred in the fifth inning, three episodes after Vargas hit his first grand slam of his career.<\/p>\n
Vargas suffered the blow while trying to stretch to catch a deflected throw from Curtis Mead, coming from third base, after a hit by Aaron Judge.<\/p>\n
Apparently, Judge’s left leg impacted Vargas’s left hand (the one he uses for the glove) when he was running towards first base. Vargas fell to the ground, visibly affected by the pain.<\/p>\n
In the play, Judge was awarded a single and advanced to second due to the wild pitch, which also allowed Ben Rice to score from first base, breaking a 4-4 tie.<\/p>\n
The Yankees added another run in that inning, taking a 6-4 lead.<\/p>\n
