Colton Herta Evades Questions About His IndyCar Future<\/h2>\n\nColton Herta, IndyCar driver, avoided addressing three times the speculations about his possible departure from the category to seek a place in Formula 1.\n\nThe central theme of these speculations is the search for the points needed to obtain the super license, an essential requirement to compete in Formula 1.\n\nThe IndyCar series prepares for its season finale at the Nashville Superspeedway, with several driver contracts still unresolved.\n\nAmong them is Will Power, two-time IndyCar champion, who could take Herta’s place at Andretti Global if the American driver’s move to F2 materializes, in search of the super license.\n\nDan Towriss’s group owns the new Cadillac Formula 1 team, which announced Valtteri Bottas and Sergio P\u00e9rez as their drivers for the 2026 season.\n\nThe F1 project began in 2021 under the direction of Michael Andretti, who had reserved a seat for Herta, with the intention of forming an all-American team.\n\nHowever, after four seasons, Herta still hasn’t obtained the super license and wasn’t considered for one of the Cadillac seats.\n\n\n

“I really don’t have any comment on any of that, to be honest,” Herta stated to Associated Press.<\/p>\n\nColton Herta<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nWhen pointed out that by not denying the rumors she was allowing them to continue, Herta evaded the question again.\n\n\n

“Yes, but it also makes people talk about me more. Maybe it even increases my value a little,” he added.<\/p>\n\nColton Herta<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nHerta diverted attention for the third time by changing the subject. When Towriss was asked about Herta during the F1 lineup announcement, he mentioned that Herta was not an option due to the lack of a super license.\n\nWhen directly questioned about whether he was trying to move Herta to an F2 team, Towriss replied: “That’s not what we’re reporting today.”\n\nThis response contrasted notably with the one given by Towriss regarding reports of his interest in hiring former Red Bull team principal Christian Horner for Cadillac.\n\n\n
