Daniil Medvedev Fined for Behavior at the US Open<\/h2>\n\nRussian tennis player Daniil Medvedev was fined $42,500 for his behavior during his first-round loss at the US Open.\n\nThe economic penalty represents more than a third of the $110,000 dollars the player earned in the tournament.\n\nThe tournament referee, Jake Garner, imposed a fine of $30,000 dollars for unsportsmanlike conduct and an additional $12,500 dollars for racket abuse.\n\nMedvedev’s fury erupted at the end of the match, when he repeatedly slammed his racket against the chair, destroying it.\n\n\n
\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\nDaniil Medvedev was fined $30,000 dollars for unsportsmanlike conduct and $12,500 dollars for racquet abuse following his incident at the US Open during the first-round loss to Benjamin Bonzi.<\/em>\n\nThe former world number 1, who won the championship at Flushing Meadows in 2021, was annoyed on Sunday night when chair umpire Greg Allensworth allowed his opponent, Benjamin Bonzi, another first serve after an unusual interruption.\n\nBonzi was on the verge of winning, leading 5-4 in the third set, when a photographer, whose credential was subsequently revoked, began walking along the side of the court in the Louis Armstrong stadium, just after a fault.\n\nAllensworth asked the photographer to leave the court and then announced that Bonzi would have another first serve due to the delay. Medvedev approached the official to complain, and it was then that the situation got out of control. The crowd began to boo and chant, “Second serve!” In total, the game was stopped for more than six minutes while Medvedev enraged the fans and insulted Allensworth.\n\n\n
