Joe Mixon: Uncertain Future with the Texans<\/h2>\n\nThe Houston Texans’ general manager, Nick Caserio, has kept a low profile regarding the future of Pro Bowl running back Joe Mixon for the 2025 season.\n\nFollowing the reduction of the roster to 53 players, Mixon was placed on the reserve\/non-football injury list for an ankle injury that has kept him out during training, minicamp, and training camp. This means he will miss at least the first four games of the season.\n\nCaserio, when asked if Mixon will play this season, did not offer details about the star running back’s status.\n\n\n

We’ll evaluate those players after four weeks and see where they are in their progression, and then we’ll make a decision\u201d.<\/p>Nick Caserio<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nThe Texans acquired Mixon from the Cincinnati Bengals in March 2024, in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick from last year. In his first season in Houston, he ran for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns, earning him a spot in the Pro Bowl.\n\nMixon led the Texans in touchdowns in the regular season (12) and in the postseason (2). He also led the team in yards from scrimmage in both the regular season (1,325) and the playoffs (219). In the playoffs, Mixon ran for 194 yards in two games and was fourth in yards per game (97), after finishing ninth (72.6) during the regular season.\n\nMixon could return in Week 5, when the Texans visit the Baltimore Ravens.\n\nIn the absence of Mixon, Nick Chubb, who signed a one-year contract with the Texans in June after being released by the Cleveland Browns, could have a significant role in the running game.
