His detention occurred in August, after being deported from the United States.\n\nThe son of Mexican boxing legend Julio C\u00e9sar Ch\u00e1vez faces accusations related to involvement with cartels and illegal arms trafficking in Mexico.\n\nCh\u00e1vez&#8217;s release came after a judge&#8217;s decision in Hermosillo, a city located in northern Mexico. The judge determined that it was not necessary for him to remain in custody while awaiting trial. However, he was prohibited from leaving the country, according to a federal agent who informed the AP news agency, requesting anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.\n\nThe judge also established a three-month period for further investigation of the case.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n\n<p>Ch\u00e1vez&#8217;s lawyer, Rub\u00e9n Fernando Ben\u00edtez \u00c1lvarez, has described the accusations against his client as &#8220;speculations&#8221; and &#8220;urban legends&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n<cite>Rub\u00e9n Fernando Ben\u00edtez \u00c1lvarez<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nCh\u00e1vez was arrested in the United States in July, after a media encounter against American Jake Paul in Los Angeles. Mexican authorities had an arrest warrant against him since 2023.
