Gio Reyna Joins Borussia M\u00f6nchengladbach<\/h2>\n\nAmerican midfielder Gio Reyna has finalized his transfer to Borussia M\u00f6nchengladbach from Borussia Dortmund, the clubs announced this Saturday.\n\nThe 22-year-old player has signed a three-season contract, valid until the summer of 2028.\n\nFor Reyna, this marks the end of his six-year stint in Dortmund, where he began his professional career after leaving the New York City FC academy.\n\nThis change represents a new beginning for Reyna, after a series of injuries and the struggle for minutes in the first team hampered his promising beginnings.\n\n\n

\u201cBorussia is a fantastic and great club. I am delighted that the transfer has been able to be finalized and I am looking forward to meeting everyone here, as well as facing the next matches together,\u201d Reyna stated.<\/p>Gio Reyna<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nReyna only started in three German Bundesliga matches last season, after having been on loan at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League during the second half of the previous campaign.\n\nAlthough he was part of the Dortmund squad that reached the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup this summer, Reyna only played one match as a substitute, playing 12 minutes. His participation in the tournament prevented him from being part of the United States men’s national team for the Concacaf Gold Cup.\n\nReyna, son of former US midfielder Claudio Reyna, has played 32 matches for the US national team and scored eight goals. With only one substitute appearance since Mauricio Pochettino took over as coach last year, Reyna now hopes that a move to Gladbach can revitalize his career and earn him a place in the US national team for next summer’s World Cup at home.\n\nHe joins a Gladbach team that finished tenth in the Bundesliga last season and will begin the new campaign at home against Hamburg on Sunday.\n\n\n
