UFC middleweight ex-champion Sean Strickland has been suspended for six months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) due to his involvement in a physical altercation with another fighter at an MMA event in June.<\/p>\n
The NSAC imposed a suspension and a $5,000 fine on 34-year-old Strickland during its monthly meeting on Thursday. The suspension is retroactive to the date of the incident, which occurred on June 29 at a Tuff-N-Uff event in Las Vegas. The suspension will end on December 29, although Strickland could reduce it to 4.5 months if he completes an anger management course.<\/p>\n
Strickland, a Las Vegas resident, entered the cage after a fighter he trains, Miles Hunsinger, suffered a submission loss to Luis Hernandez. Immediately after the fight, Hernandez provoked Hunsinger’s corner, which drew a response from Strickland and fellow UFC fighter Chris Curtis. A video captured Strickland throwing several punches at Hernandez. The NSAC also fined Curtis $2,500 for his involvement in the incident.<\/p>\n
