UFC middleweight ex-champion Sean Strickland has been suspended for six months by the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC), due to his involvement in a physical altercation with another fighter at an MMA event in June.<\/p>\n
The NSAC made the decision during its monthly meeting on Thursday, also imposing a $5,000 fine on Strickland, 34 years old. The suspension was applied retroactively from June 29, the date the incident occurred at a Tuff-N-Uff event in Las Vegas. The suspension will end on December 29, although Strickland could reduce it to 4.5 months if he completes an anger management course.<\/p>\n
Strickland, a Las Vegas resident, entered the cage after his trainee, Miles Hunsinger, suffered a submission loss to Luis Hernandez. Immediately after the fight, Hernandez provoked Hunsinger’s corner, which triggered a reaction from Strickland and fellow UFC fighter Chris Curtis. Videos captured Strickland throwing several punches at Hernandez.<\/p>\n
The NSAC also fined Curtis $2,500 for his involvement in the incident.<\/p>\n
