Atlanta Braves third baseman Austin Riley will not play anymore in the current season. This is due to surgery for a core injury, according to the team’s announcement.<\/p>\n
The surgical intervention was performed on Thursday by Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n
Riley, who had already been placed on the 10-day injured list for the second time in two months on August 4 due to a strain in his lower abdominal muscle, is expected to be recovered for spring training next year.<\/p>\n
The player was initially placed on the injured list on July 12th for an abdominal strain. He returned on July 25th and finished the season with a batting average of .260, 16 home runs, and 54 RBIs.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the Braves claimed right-handed pitcher Cal Quantrill from the Miami Marlins’ waivers and sent right-handed pitcher Dane Dunning to Triple-A Gwinnett.<\/p>\n
The team also added outfielder Jake Fraley to their roster, after sending right-handed pitcher Connor Seabold to Gwinnett. Fraley was designated for assignment by Cincinnati on Sunday before being claimed by the Braves.<\/p>\n
