New York, USA \u2013 The Juan Pablo Duarte Sports Games, which began on Friday, August 15th at Lehman College in The Bronx, are already underway. The competitions encompass various disciplines, including basketball, judo, swimming, vitilla, and tennis.<\/p>\n
These games, which bring together 2,300 Dominican athletes, are played in 24 disciplines and feature the participation of athletes from New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Providence, Boston, Connecticut and other locations with a Dominican community presence.<\/p>\n
The event is supported by the Dominican Government through the Ministry of Sports and Recreation (MIDEREC), led by Kelvin Cruz, who gave the keynote speech at the opening ceremony of this sporting celebration.<\/p>\n
The organization of the Juan Pablo Duarte NY 2025 Sports Games is in charge of the Dominican Sports Union NY, under the direction of Evarito Madrigal. The organizing committee has Roberto Rojas, businessman, sportsman and community leader, as general director, and Pedro Pablo P\u00e9rez as technical director.<\/p>\n
In the field tennis category for children aged 7, 8 and 9, Sabrina Fern\u00e1ndez advanced after winning with scores of 4\/3 and 4\/2. In the 10-year-old category, L\u00eda Mu\u00f1iz also managed to advance, securing first place with results of 4\/1 and 4\/3.<\/p>\n
Yahil Osorio Tapia advanced to the semifinals in the 12-year-old category. Similarly, in the men’s division of the same category, Samuel P\u00e9rez Serrata also secured his place in the semifinals.<\/p>\n
The first day of basketball took place at the Boch\u00e9 Garden court, located on Amsterdam Avenue and 175th Street in Manhattan, with matches between the delegations of Boston, Manhattan, and New Jersey.<\/p>\n
Swimming was developed in the modern pool of Lehman College, as was the discipline of judo.<\/p>\n
The judo competition was held inside Lehman College, with the participation of several competitors.<\/p>\n
The vitilla, a traditional game in the Dominican Republic, known for promoting hand-eye coordination and reaction speed, was played in upper Manhattan.<\/p>\n
