Gervonta Davis: Domestic Violence Case Dismissed<\/h2>\n\nThe WBA lightweight world champion, Gervonta Davis, has seen the domestic violence case against him dismissed.\n\nAccording to information from the Miami-Dade County Clerk of Courts website, the minor assault charge against Davis, stemming from an alleged domestic dispute with his ex-girlfriend on Father’s Day, was formally dismissed on Tuesday morning. The decision was made after the woman refused to prosecute the boxer.\n\n\n

This case was dismissed as the victim refuses to prosecute, according to her lawyer, Lindsey Chase. Her feelings were confirmed directly by the Assistant State Attorney handling the case. The witness to the incident, who is the victim’s mother, also did not cooperate and failed to appear at a pre-trial conference on Thursday, August 7th. Attempts to contact the witness by phone were unsuccessful.<\/p>Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nDavis was arrested in Miami Beach and transferred to the Doral Police Department, being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on July 11. He was released that same day after posting a $10,000 bail.\n\nAccording to the police report, Davis’s ex-girlfriend told the police that she had had a verbal argument with the boxer over “personal matters and Gervonta’s insecurities about his son’s sexuality.”\n\nDavis arrived at his residence at 5:04 p.m. ET on June 15 to pick up his children, at which point the situation escalated. After putting both children in Davis’s car, the woman alleged that Davis hit her “on the back of the head with a closed fist” and slapped her in the face.\n\nAfter regaining custody of her children during the incident, the woman went to a local hospital for medical treatment. A note in the police report also suggested that there had been “approximately 10” undocumented physical altercations between Davis and his ex-girlfriend.\n\nThe original court hearing for Davis was scheduled for July 29, but it was postponed until Tuesday, with the case being terminated and closed by Judge Elisabeth Maria Espinosa Marin.\n\nDavis was linked to a possible rematch with Lamont Roach Jr. in August, after they both fought to a controversial majority draw in March.
