However, both teams maintained a legal dispute over the start date of his contract.

The signing of the Italian is part of the strategy of Lawrence Stroll, owner of Aston Martin, to turn the team into a championship contender from 2026. This strategy includes the incorporation of prominent figures such as Adrian Newey, design legend, and Andy Cowell, an engine expert from Mercedes.

At the beginning of this year, Ferrari obtained a court order preventing Cardile from collaborating with Aston Martin until the end of his “gardening leave” period. The court determined that Cardile could not start working with Aston Martin before July 18th.

The Italian team stated at the time that the court had found that “our former employee was already violating the non-compete agreement with Ferrari, whose purpose was precisely to prevent other F1 teams from gaining an unjustified competitive advantage by hiring Cardile before allowed, causing irreparable damage to Ferrari”.
Ferrari

Enrico Cardile ha finalizado su periodo de “gardening leave” y ha comenzado a trabajar oficialmente en Aston Martin.

Aston Martin has confirmed that Cardile has already taken up his duties.

In a statement, the team expressed: “We are pleased that a solution has been found and that Enrico can move forward with the team as we look towards 2026 and beyond as our technical director, leading our design and technical functions at the AMR Technology Campus.”

Cardile’s arrival adds a new chapter to Aston Martin’s history, on the eve of the new era of F1, which will introduce regulations that will force the creation of new cars and engines, promising to reconfigure the competitive order.

Among the most notable incorporations is Adrian Newey, a legend of design in F1, who began working at the beginning of the year as a technical partner manager.

Cardile will report directly to the team principal and Group CEO, Andy Cowell.

Stroll has previously described the trio composed of Newey, Cowell and Cardile as a “formidable leadership team”.

Aston Martin’s investment also includes a new, modern F1 facility at a headquarters opposite the entrance to the Silverstone circuit, home of the British Grand Prix.

The team will also face the new cycle of regulations with an exclusive supply of Honda engines, after years of using Mercedes power units.

Honda will end its partnership with Red Bull at the end of 2025.

Aston Martin has officially confirmed the incorporation of Enrico Cardile, who joins the team from Ferrari as technical director of its Formula 1 team.
