This allowed him to close the day with an impressive 62, giving him a three-stroke lead over Tommy Fleetwood at the BMW Championship.

MacIntyre finished his round with a putt of 5 feet for birdie on the 18th hole, which turned out to be the easiest of his last six birdies. This streak is the longest recorded by any player to finish a FedEx Cup playoff round since its inception in 2007. In addition, he made a birdie from 65 feet on the 12th hole and another from 40 feet.

His performance equaled his best round on the PGA Tour, leaving his competitors in pursuit of reaching his level in the first round of the event prior to the season finale.

“The last six holes are probably the best I’ve putted in a series of holes.”
MacIntyre

Scottie Scheffler, who shared the lead before the interruption, got three “birdies” in his last four holes, signing a 66. Rickie Fowler was one stroke away, approaching the possibility of participating in the Tour Championship and competing for the FedEx Cup.

The Caves Valley course, which hosted the BMW Championship in 2021, has been renovated and is now a par 70. Viktor Hovland, with a 67, was the lowest-scoring player in the morning before rain affected the course.

The softer course conditions made the difference, but MacIntyre’s performance with a 62 was equally impressive. Fleetwood, after MacIntyre finished, was on the 16th hole.

Fleetwood achieved an excellent performance, especially after a complicated finish the previous week at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. His goal is to return to contention as soon as possible.

Scheffler and Rory McIlroy, numbers 1 and 2 in the FedEx Cup respectively, competed together. McIlroy struggled with his tee shots and finished with a 70. Scheffler had some problems on the course, but managed three birdies in the last four holes.

Hovland, ranked 28th in the FedEx Cup, is looking to secure his place among the top 30 for the Tour Championship. Fowler, Michael Kim, and Jason Day, who barely made it into the top 50, also performed well with 68 strokes.

Xander Schauffele, who has never missed the Tour Championship since his 2017 victory, could see his streak interrupted. He started with four bogeys in the first six holes and finished with a double bogey, totaling 74.

Robert MacIntyre made putts for a total of 195 feet and 2 inches in the first round of the BMW.

Robert MacIntyre Leads the BMW Championship with an Exceptional Golf Display Robert MacIntyre, after a two-hour pause due to a storm, took advantage of the more favorable conditions at the Caves Valley course and displayed his best putting game, achieving six consecutive birdies.
