This news comes just after his return from a prolonged absence.\n\nAmaya injured herself on Wednesday night while playing against the Toronto Blue Jays. The incident occurred when Amaya stepped on first base.\n\nAfter his foot landed awkwardly on the base, Amaya was carted off the field on a stretcher after twisting in the air. Cubs manager Craig Counsell confirmed that X-rays revealed no fracture.\n\nCounsell commented that Amaya&#8217;s ankle was already very swollen and that his absence will be felt in the team. Caissie was acquired in December 2020 in a trade involving Yu Darvish.
