Jordan Love Undergoes Thumb Surgery to Ensure His Health<\/h2>\n\nGreen Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love has made a crucial decision to ensure his physical condition for the season. After dealing with injuries for much of last season, Love underwent surgery on his left thumb (non-dominant hand) this week.\n\nThe surgical intervention was performed to repair the ulnar collateral ligament, as explained by Love himself. The player made this decision after suffering an injury in the preseason game against the New York Jets.\n\n\n

\u201cWith the time we have now, finishing training camp and the preseason, and entering the season feeling 100% healthy, it was definitely the decision I wanted to make,\u201d Love told reporters.<\/p>\n\nJordan Love<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nLove recalled the difficulties he faced last season, missing games due to a medial collateral ligament injury suffered in the first game against the Philadelphia Eagles. In addition, he also had to deal with a groin injury.\n\nDespite the thumb injury, Love participated in Monday’s training with his thumb bandaged, although he adapted his game to avoid straining the injured hand.\n\n\n

\u201cIf this had happened mid-season, we probably wouldn\u2019t have had surgery,\u201d Love added. \u201cBut since we still have time to recover and be fully ready for Week 1, the recommendation was to have surgery.\u201d<\/p>\n\nJordan Love<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nLove attended Thursday’s practice with his left hand heavily bandaged and, according to Packers coach Matt LaFleur, hasn’t thrown the ball since the operation. He is expected to begin participating in some activities next week.\n\nMalik Willis will be the starter in Saturday’s preseason game against the Colts. The Packers have another joint practice scheduled with the Seattle Seahawks next Thursday, before the final preseason game the following Saturday.\n\n\n
