He underwent brain surgery to treat a subdural hematoma, but unfortunately passed away due to the injury.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Rest in peace, Shigetoshi Kotari. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, team, and the entire Japanese boxing community.<\/p><cite>World Boxing Organization<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nHiromasa Urakawa also lost his life on Saturday, after suffering brain injuries in his fight against Yoji Saito, where he was knocked out. Urakawa also underwent a craniotomy to treat a subdural hematoma.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>The WBO regrets the passing of Japanese boxer Hiromasa Urakawa, who tragically succumbed to injuries sustained during his fight against Yoji Saito on August 2nd at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. This heartbreaking news comes just days after the passing of Shigetoshi Kotari, who died from injuries sustained in his fight on the same card.
