After submitting McGregor with a neck crank, Nurmagomedov jumped out of the octagon to continue a fight with McGregor&#8217;s team. Nurmagomedov retired as an undefeated champion in 2020.\n\nMcGregor, with a 1-2 record in the UFC after his fight, has faced various legal issues, including a civil case for sexual assault in 2024.\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>This is a punishment, but the most beautiful part of this is that Allah always gives the opportunity to return. I think he has a chance. He has to change how he is living.<\/p><cite>Khabib Nurmagomedov<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\nNurmagomedov commented that he doesn&#8217;t think it&#8217;s too late for McGregor to modify his lifestyle. &#8220;If he changes, he can change many other lives too. That&#8217;s why I wish him to change himself. If he doesn&#8217;t change, it will be a punishment all his life,&#8221; Nurmagomedov added during an intervention on Saturday in New York.\n\nThese statements contrast with Nurmagomedov&#8217;s comments about McGregor in the years following their rivalry, during which McGregor made comments about Nurmagomedov&#8217;s personal life. In 2019, Nurmagomedov stated: &#8220;It will never end. Even if we see each other somewhere, we are going to fight, 100%. It doesn&#8217;t matter if someone goes to jail or something like that.&#8221;\n\nMcGregor hasn&#8217;t fought since suffering a leg fracture in a TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021.
